Harvest of Great Mercy! God’s mercies Endureth forever!
As we move into the 19th week of pledge redemption, still in the spirit of harvest, in order to inspire the faith of the parishioners and get them to be more intimate with God this period, petition slips, envelops and a custom made petition sheet of paper were blessed and shared to all those present.
The aim of this exercise is to get parishioners to dig deep into their heart of hearts and bring forth that most desired intention which they have been longing for the Lord to answer. The materials distributed today is meant to assist them in listing various special intentions they so desire ranging from peace in our country Nigeria, to peace in their families and homes, to those seeking for life partners and especially, those seeking for an upgrade in their financial, spiritual and moral lives.
On the 3rd Sunday of every month, the priest would call out various intentions that would be prayed upon in that very month e.g. in the month of July.
If the petitions presented tally with the intentions of an individual, he/she is meant to write a special letter to our Lord Jesus Christ using the petition sheet of paper handed to them.
In it, they’ll be free to write to God in any manner they deem fit, also, various intentions already outlined in the petition slips given to them would be ticked as the heart so pleases; all these materials would be enclosed in the petition envelops.
A seed (offering) would be enclosed in the envelop also and on the 4th Sunday of the month, an altar call would be made where parishioners would be asked to file out in faith, armed with their completed petition materials.
After the envelops have been submitted, the intentions (the petition slip and letter) would be collated by the harvest committee and placed in a specially designated box at the foot of the sanctuary. All this intentions along with other intentions gathered throughout this harvest season would be collectively burnt at the close of the harvest.
The chaplain, Rev. Fr. Wisdom Chikezie did his best in explaining to the parishioners this simple procedure while Mr. Obinna Obijiaku, a member of the harvest committee publicity team reminded them of the importance of redeeming their pledges and also, urged them to book for their family harvest thanksgiving.
