Covenant Sunday: A Day To Remember

The day had finally come. The much anticipated 2016 Harvest of Great Mercy Covenant Sunday was upon us. The parishioners defiled all odds by attending the 7.00am mass regardless of the light rain showers experienced in the early hours of the morning which must have made a lot of people, for a minute, question the need to attend mass that day.

The day wasn’t business as usual because the harvest committee members, led by the coordinator of Divine Mercy Yaba deanery, Mr. Abiola Olanipekun, were armed to the teeth and ready for the day, both spiritually and mentally.

The prayers were led by the chaplain, Rev. Fr. Wisdom Chikezie and to the glory of God, the results manifested physically with the whole church filled with the presence of the Holy Spirit.

“Parishioners trooped out in their numbers to give bountifully to the Lord. It was indeed an awesome experience and we want to thank all those who made it possible, those who prayed with us and those who made pledges despite the harsh economic situation in the country,” said the harvest committee chairman.

Sunday also marked the beginning of harvest family thanksgiving. Parishioners were seen outside after both masses (7.00am and 9.30am) collecting family harvest thanksgiving envelops, asking questions on how to redeem their pledges and making other inquiries.
