It was all smiles on the faces of the congregation as they saw the children in the church file out to the altar looking so gorgeously dressed in their native attire.

Before now, the children ministry headed by Mrs StellaMaria Malagu and her team of dedicated members, has grown in considerable leaps and bounds with their number increasing every Sunday. Now mass is been said regularly for them at 08.00am at the children’s section.

They were so excited when they learnt that the church needed their ‘expertise’ in order to pull off a colorful launching of her ‘Harvest of Great Mercy State Thanksgiving 2016.’ They indeed did justice to it!

Also the social group of CYON lit the stage with their electrifying ‘bata’ cultural dance steps and drum rhythm. Followed after them were the kids bearing the trophy to be won at the end of the state thanksgivings which would run for six (6) consecutive Sundays.

Each geopolitical zone in Nigeria has been uniquely spread throughout all the allotted days so no Sunday would pass without us experiencing a rich blend of culture and tradition.

The entourage won’t be complete without this year’s harvest committee members. They all had with them a special ankara as an indication of the flagging off. Various dialects were used to inspire the congregation to come out en – masse to support this year’s program.

During Rev. Fr. Wisdom’s homily on Sunday, 4th September, he also stressed the need for the church to support the children and youths in our community. He reminded them that every painstaking effort used to serve the Lord never goes unnoticed.

These words surly must come as a sign of relief to all those who participated in Sunday’s launch as the same exhilarating presentation was done at both masses. The states to have their thanksgiving this coming Sunday are:-

  • Akwa Ibom/Cross River
  • Imo
  • Ogun/Kwara

More families came forward for their family harvest thanksgiving and we expect more to follow suit as we count down to the d – day, November 13th.
