Second Sunday in Lent: A Decision to Follow the Lord

the-transfiguration

As revealed in the Catholic Church calendar, Sunday 12th of March 2017, the second Sunday in the season of lent, heightens the commemoration of the Holy Week which marks the death, burial and resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday.

In this season of lent, I have made a decision too to follow the Lord. It may sound clique but it is important to once in a while, have a recollection and do ‘checks and balances’ to see how our spiritual lives have fared so far.

Sunday’s homily didn’t sound different from the usual authoritative, firm and convincing words coming from the pulpit where Fr. Wisdom Chikezie holds forte.

‘A decision to follow the Lord is a tough one, but peace is conditioned on those who listen to the Lord’, said Fr. Wisdom.

Abraham Friend of God2

‘In those days, the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.”’ [Genesis 12:1]

Abraham made a decision to follow the Lord and he was blessed and made the father of all nations. I too want to be amongst those immortalized as a carrier of blessings, as a carrier of light.

‘Carnal minds view the things of the spirit logically. If you must encounter the Lord, you must move from logic to faith.’

‘We end by asking ourselves some very salient questions; how many times have we doubted the power of the Lord in our lives? How many times have we given into worry other than to pray?’

I decide to follow the Lord in this season of Lent and make it special as grace already has being made available.
