The harmattan is finally here, that which we all craved for has suddenly come but it didn’t come alone; fog, dust, catarrh and cold are some of its accomplices.
The holidays won’t get any better without this signature weather so we are indeed happy. Man is reminded constantly that there is never a perfect situation in life, as each scenario comes with its good and ugly side.
‘For a child is born to us! A son is given to us! And he will be our ruler. He will be called, “Wonderful Counselor”, “Mighty God”, “Eternal Father”, “Prince of Peace”. [Isaiah 9: 6]
Christmas is the reason for the season. Making this season a special one without the usual clichés of ‘having – fun – all – by – myself’ but showing a deeper understanding of the clime we find ourselves in, and doing the needful; charity, sharing love and building stronger relationships is key.
‘Christmas is the love story between God and man. It is also one of the most popular stories ever told in human history. In this story there is a blood thirsty villain and an unconventional hero’, said Fr. Wisdom
The blood thirsty villain is King Herod who in his time did everything he could to stop the unconventional hero, the child Jesus from being born.
God on the other hand formed His family, Joseph, Mary and Jesus Christ, the holy family of Nazareth. This institution was set up as a model for families to emulate. The sorrow of today is seeing the devil having an upper hand in the daily affairs of our families and homes.
‘If the family is corrupt, the world would be corrupt. Without a family, there won’t be Christmas’, said Fr. Wisdom
‘But when the set time had fully come, God sent his son, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to Sonship.’ [Galatians 4: 4 – 5]
God has made us part of His family so we are urged to make others part of our families too.
